Misty Farms - Ann Arbor, Michigan
Misty Farms is a relatively new event venue in Ann Arbor and it has taken off at the speed of light. As of last week there were only 3 dates left for 2011. Misty Farms is a gorgeous wedding venue, and is also able to transformed into whatever you want it to be. We coordinated Sara & Trevor's wedding at Misty Farms last summer and are looking forward to our 2011 weddings there.

Ceremony & Reception Venues in Ann Arbor & Metro Detroit
I recently mentioned that my sister is engaged!!! She lives out of state and was home over Christmas so we have hit the ground running on trying to find the appropriate venue for her ceremony and/or reception. Here are her requirements:
1. Time of year: July - December 2011
2. Approximate number of guests: 225
3. Ceremony does not have to be in a church. She is open to a hotel, outdoor ceremony or traditional church ceremony as well
4. Location: Ann Arbor & Metro Detroit
5. Budget: TBD

Get Married at the Big House!!!
"Say 'I do' in Maize and Blue"
Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon sees your special day in a very special maize and blue way. "We have fans and alums who would love to get married on the Block M," Brandon said of the famous logo at the 50-yard line of Michigan Stadium.
"Can't you see the wedding procession coming out of the tunnel, under the M Go Blue banner? You have folding chairs set up on the field, you get married on the Block M, and everyone comes up the tunnel, then up the elevators, and you've got all these spaces up here (in the suites). You could have a reception for hundreds of people up here."
Brandon plans to hire an individual who will market Michigan Stadium weddings and parties. That person will set the price for the special events.
Currently, U-M diehards can tie the knot at the Michigan Union and the Michigan League. The Union has spaces that accommodate 10 to 400 guests while the League has a ballroom that can hold 300 guests. There are a variety of reception packages appropriately named, "Something Blue," "Maize and Blue package," and the "Victors Valiant package."
Hosting a wedding and/or reception is not unheard of at college or professional stadiums, particularly with the proliferation of renovated venues and the addition of luxury suites.
Illinois' Memorial Stadium has been the site of wedding ceremonies with receptions in the Colonnades Club on the third level of the stadium's west side. Rental for the club is $2,500.
The University of Utah also hosts receptions in the Varsity Room of the Rice-Eccles Stadium Tower for $2,200 (not including linens and catering, among other things).
Professional stadiums offer suites for wedding receptions. The Patriots' Gillette Stadium can host 100 to 2,000 guests, and Busch Stadium, where the St. Louis Cardinals play, offers a $4,750 package that includes a ceremony at home plate and scoreboard and sound system usage.
Brandon, a former U-M football player and a CEO for two decades, is an idea man, a forward thinker who knows that while seven or eight home football games is the reason Michigan Stadium even exists, there could be much more. So much more.
"To families, individuals, corporations who would have an interest in using them for events that would be special," Brandon said. "This stadium is one of the assets we have.
"We have this beautiful structure that's being used predominantly seven days a year. If we can come up with occasional opportunities to host other events that will draw the attention of folks and will be interesting and fun and financially viable, we'd love to do it."
While he was CEO of Ann Arbor-based Domino's, Brandon said it was always a struggle to find a large enough and unique area to host events. He said the company often had to take functions to Detroit.
"We think you could put on some interesting unique corporate events," Brandon said. "We are very open to that."
Brandon said that once renovations to Crisler Arena and Yost Arena are completed, those facilities also will contain "a lot of really cool, interesting spaces" that could potentially host events.

We had the pleasure of planning, designing and coordinating Jessica & Brian's September wedding. With the couple living out of state, we communicated a lot through email, and met a few times in person. They had an amazing line up of vendors...so without further ado...

Real Wedding 2010 ~ Vicky & Paul ~ Michigan Union
Vicky & Paul contacted me about a month before their wedding to inquire about day of coordination services. I am so thankful I had the day open for them, they were so much fun to work with and their wedding reception rocked the Michigan Union all night long! Vicky & Paul planned their Ann Arbor wedding all the way from New York, so we spent a lot of time emailing back and forth before finally meeting in person! They are such a great couple, who are so in love, and it was such an honor to be a part of their special day! Below are a few pictures captured by the fabulous Abby Rose. The Michigan Union
A couple weeks ago we were contacted by a lovely couple who have hired us to coordinate their reception at the Michigan Union. As soon as I heard the words "Michigan Union" my heart smiled. I love most ceremony & reception venues - especially those here in southeastern Michigan. However, the Michigan Union & the Michigan League hold a very special place in my heart. I grew up in Ann Arbor - and as anyone from Ann Arbor knows, the University becomes a part of your life...the downtown scene, hockey games, football games, frat parties...I mean... ;)
The Michigan Union (and Michigan League) hold so much history. Not only are they gorgeous on the outside, but they are beautiful inside and full of rich architectural details. Here are some pictures that showcase their beauty:

The Inn at St. John's
I have been working with Linda Johnson, event coordinator at the Inn at St. Johns over the past several weeks to try to secure a date for one of our 2011 clients! Linda and I have quickly become good friends, as we've talked almost every day!! :)
Our client fell in love with the Atrium at the Inn at St. John's - the problem was availability. Even finding a Friday date was near impossible. Luckily, our client was able to secure one of the last Friday's available during peak wedding season.
The Inn at St. John's is beautiful - they have a stunning chapel, gorgeous ballrooms, and of course the Atrium is to die for! I had to share some pictures by the amazing Kristen Taylor :

The Royal Park Hotel - Rochester, Michigan
I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon in Rochester visiting a couple amazing wedding vendors - among them, the Royal Park Hotel.
I stopped in to the Royal Park Hotel and met with Kristen Burnett, a wedding/social catering manager at the hotel. She was so friendly and so fabulous! Thanks Kristen :)

The uniqueness of the Royal Park Hotel lies in two things:
1. The location & abundance of activities they offer. The Royal Park Hotel is located one block from downtown Rochester. You could walk, rent a bike, or use their free shuttle (within a 5 mile radius). They also have equipment for fly fishing on the river that runs right outside the hotel, bacci ball courts, and premiere golf courses located within a couple of miles. There are so many activities to keep your guests entertained all weekend long.
2. Linens. Most hotels offer the standard white linen and napkin as part of their wedding package, and charge extra for other colors or styles. The Royal Park Hotel offers an ivory damask linen with all it's wedding packages and it is BEAUTIFUL! It is definitely a very unique touch.
Did I mention the amazing Murano chandelier that radiates supreme beauty? It's a must see!
The Royal Park Hotel has two immaculate areas for a wedding ceremony and reception. The conservatory (pictured below) is ideal for a ceremony. It is a nice air conditioned room in the summer provides a beautiful indoor space for you Michigan winter brides. The ballrooms are just as grand, with lots of room for guests, a dance floor, and a DJ and/or a band.

I'm not going to lie when I say I have been stalking Amy Carroll's blog now for over two weeks! She is the amazing photographer behind Sara & Trevor's fabulous vintage, rustic, farm wedding at Misty Farms in Ann Arbor. You can click on Amy's name above to view her entire blog post.
I have known Sara since high school. She has always been sweet as a button, and not to mention amazingly beautiful. I was estatic when she asked if we would provide day of coordination services for her wedding at Misty Farms in Ann Arbor. Misty Farms is a new wedding & reception venue located off Scio Church Road. It is breathtakingly gorgeous; and a lot of work. Frankly, I don't see how you can have a wedding here without a coordinator...but that's just my two cents ;)
Sara & Trevor's day was full of amazing details, and I couldn't have been more honored to help Sara organize and execute them.

Sara & Tevor are HUGE University of Michigan fans as you can tell by the picture of Trevor's cufflinks above and this picture on the block 'M' - One of my favorite parts of their reception was when they made their formal entrance to the Michigan fight song - Go Blue!
As you can tell from the two pictures above, Misty Farms is a unique location full of all kinds of animals! Sara & Trevor embraced them and they made for some really cool photo opportunities :)
It hadn't rained all day, and of course, with one minute until cocktail hour, a heavy sprinkle came down. We immediately high-tailed it into action, moving the bar and food inside the barn so guests could enjoy the hour without getting wet.
