Something New

Your "Something New" could be as simple as your new wedding gown...

Did I mention that our very own The Gown Shop Ann Arbor will be carrying the Ivy & Aster line!?  Woot!!!

...or a new pair of gorgeous shoes!

There's a good chance you might get some lingerie at one of your shower's or your bachelorette party - wearing some new undergarments could also be considered your "something new!"

...or how about a new piece of jewelry?

What will be your "something new?"

Convertible (2-in-1) Wedding Dresses

Many brides want to debut a second look at their wedding reception, and slip into something a little more form fitting and shorter so they can really let loose on the dance floor!  David's Bridal now has a line of convertible dresses that go from long and formal to short and sassy...all in one dress!  Even better...they are budget friendly, starting at a mere $599.

B H L D N - Anthropologie Bridal Gowns

Let's be honest...this year Valentine's day is not about the romantic dinner, the flowers, the candy or the gifts.  For wedding planners and designers it's about the launch of B H L D N, better known as Anthropologies new bridal gown collection!  This collection is beautiful, whimsical, and best of all...AFFORDABLE!  Without further ado, I've selected a few of my favorites:

Tea length gowns are all the rage, and whether this is your wedding dress, or your reception dress, the floral details and bubble skirt are a homerun!
Floral Artwork Dress $1,800

This A-line tea length dress is beautifully detailed and screams delicate and beautiful.  This is one of the more affordable dresses in the B H L D N collection.
Fondant Tea Dress $600

This truly is one of my favorite gowns...the pleated detail, the color...if you watch the Real Housewives of Atlanta, then perhaps you saw Cynthia's stunning pewter wedding dress that was to DIE for!  Amaze!
Pleated Fantasty Gown (the perfect name!) $3,600

This floor length stunner is made of silk and falls perfectly to create the ideal silhouette.  A mixture of modern design with a vintage feel, this dress is a beauty!
Ribboned Silk Gown $1,600

The black sash on this tiered gown adds the perfect touch!  With the ruffle detail  and sweetheart neckline, this dress is my second favorite in the collection :)
Tiered Tulip Gown $2,400

*All of these dresses, along with the entire collection, can be viewed on the B H L D N website*

The Gown Shop in Ann Arbor! - DETAILS

1. Who are you and how did you get into this business?

I am a woman on a mission to bring sophisticated frocks & an intimate bridal experience to Southeastern Michigan & Northwest Ohio. My inspiration comes from years of loving fashion and growing up loving all things with frills & sparkles! As a young girl and teenager, I danced for a Toledo dance company – my passion has transitioned into helping women finding their dream gown in the last ‘dress rehearsal’ before one of the most special days of their life.

2. What type of dresses will you be carrying? What are the price ranges and will you also be carrying bridesmaids dresses?

The Gown Shop is starting with a collection of four different designers from across the country: Modern Trousseau, Amy Kuschel, Carol-Hannah and Fancy NY. The Gown Shop’s range begins at $1000 with the nontraditional gowns, short or tea length styles, and can reach up to $4500 with the more traditional silhouettes. At the current time, we will not be catering to bridesmaids dresses – I wanted to focus specifically on the bridal experience.

3. What are your store hours? Are you open to the public or by appointment only?

The Gown Shop will not have specific store hours – rather specific appointment times. The shop is strictly by appointment only, to once again ensure that each bride has the experience they deserve when finding their special gown.

4. Where are you located downtown? Where is the best place to park?

The Gown Shop is located in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor at 122 South Main Street, Unit 302 between Washington & Huron. There is metered parking on the street, as well as a number of parking lots and structures within a block or two.

5. What sets you apart from the other bridal stores out there?

The Gown Shop has a ‘shabby-glam’ approach that makes one feel cozy and at home, while delivering sophisticated frills that no girl can resist. We have the experience, romantic gowns and adorable designers that will make you swoon.

6. Any additional information you would like people to know?

A bit of advice for your shopping trip on that day: When it comes to wardrobe, it is best to wear nude undergarments on the day of your appointment – if one feels more comfortable wearing a body shaper, more power to you! Remember an associate will be in the fitting room with you to assist you into the gowns, so leave the flowered granny panties and neon pink bra at home for the day. Who to bring? -Only a few of your closest family & friends, those who respect your vision for your big day look!

7. How do you take your coffee?

Skinny Mocha – depending on the day, extra shots of espresso. That’s been happening a lot lately!

A HUGE thank you to Nicole Ladonne for the amazing pictures!

Real Wedding 2010 ~ Jessica & Brian ~ The Dearborn Inn

We had the pleasure of planning, designing and coordinating Jessica & Brian's September wedding.  With the couple living out of state, we communicated a lot through email, and met a few times in person.  They had an amazing line up of vendors...so without further ado...

The staff at the Dearborn Inn are top notch, from the sales and marketing team, to the event manager, and banquet manager the day of your event.  We had the pleasure of working beside some of the industry's finest!  Thanks to everyone who made this day a success! :)

Real Wedding 2010 ~ Vicky & Paul ~ Michigan Union

Vicky & Paul contacted me about a month before their wedding to inquire about day of coordination services.  I am so thankful I had the day open for them, they were so much fun to work with and their wedding reception rocked the Michigan Union all night long!  Vicky & Paul planned their Ann Arbor wedding all the way from New York, so we spent a lot of time emailing back and forth before finally meeting in person!  They are such a great couple, who are so in love, and it was such an honor to be a part of their special day!  Below are a few pictures captured by the fabulous Abby Rose. Click here to see the rest of these amazing pictures!

Vicky and Paul had a sweetheart table set up right by the stage where the DJ was.  They were so sweet and looked so cute all night long!

Real Wedding 2010 ~ Tecumseh, Michigan

I feel like I say this in every real wedding blog post, but I truly do love every single one of our clients.  Lindsey & Nick are no exception.  Every detail of their wedding was a true reflection of their personalities, style, and love for each other.  Lindsey's color palette was very natural, brown, ivory and green.  Her cake was one of my favorite details of the day!

Lindsay & Nick were married in her parents backyard in Tecumseh, Michigan; a very intimate and beautiful setting.   They were married by their close friend Carlos, and incorporated their sweet little pooch into the evening.  Without further ado...here are some pictures of their fabulous day!
